Frank, have you tried monitoring the operation if both brake switches on PP2000, while you work the pedal loads of times?

(If you press it slowly enough, you should be able to see which operates first - I think the one that works the stop lights is last, but I can check if you want).

please that would be great, i know somewhere there is actuator tests on the pp2000 but what section is this switch listed under?

If you get the pedal position just right, you should be able to get one active, one inactive, as above.

I would never have figured that one out, and thankfully i know the rhz bit from my vin so i selected the correct ecu, that feature was great today.

i seen that the brake light thing wasnt changing as i pressed the pedal, and i noticed when i was behind the car the brake lights were staying on. So i did a bit of dissassembly to the car, took off the right side of the dash, the speedo surround and steering wheel surround, then bought some security torx bits (which involved firstly getting 3/8 drive ones and i discovered i had no 3/8 drivers so i did a makeshift job, but ive refunded them for 1/2 drive ones) usingt the bits i took the steering column out so access was much much better, and with the pp2000 on the laptop beside me i was able to fine tune the two switches until they were working right on the screen which really showed the value of the pp2000. I put it all back together and the cruise control is working fine, hopefully it wont do the alternating journey crap but at least its going.

i did some testing to the switches they are all fine, i though perhaps my cleaning did some damage but they are working great

the clue that something was up with the lights switch (still didnt stop audis tailgating though)

the tool used to take the column bolts out, a 1/4 driver with a 3/8 adaptor on it.

i did this for better access, but also had the steering wheel much lower when the bolts were out, it means you can just reach down to the switches.

the fault about coherence between the 2 brake signals has also stayed away so hopefully this is the cruise control sorted.

i originally had a black dash and black speedos, i got these out of a 2003 SE on ebay, and i didnt change the clocks i took the needles off and swapped over the white face so the mileage isnt affected, the needles are red if you get white speedometers.
they are nice at night the end of the needle reflects a bit of light into the chrome ring it points at the speed much better this way.

although the shop didnt do security torx bits in singles for the steering column so i had to spend £30 on a set but i suppose its an investment and it means i can open up the old printer which has a load of them screws.
