HELP!!! Nothing works until ignition on

Hi All,
I have lovely problem for a saturday afternoon (joy i could be relaxing and putting my feet up instead lol).

We have a 406 diesel estate which managed to get stuck in a field, in an attempt to get it out, it was rocked on the starter. which unfortunately didn't work and burnt out the starter and the lovely Green Flag Man had to recover it.

We have fitted a new starter motor and she now starts all ok, however we now have no power to dashboard lighting central locking, lights, hazards, radio until the ignition is switched on with the key. we have checked the igntion switch wiring and this appears to be all ok and checked all fuses.

we are wondering if maybe something like the built in interface system maybe the culprit.

Has anyone got any ideas or suggestion please.

By checking "all" the fuses, did you remember the one or two engine bay fuseboxes, as well as the one under the dashboard?

If you're certain the fuses are good, I'd be looking at relays.

Running out of ideas, all relays and fuses checked, rang Peugeot workshop today and foreman suggested amother thing to try, ie multiplug under carpet under throttle pedal, apparently common fault as water tends to get into it, but that is all ok.
We have put it on computer today and cleared all fault codes but nothing relevant held in memory.
Looks like we have just lost a live feed and its gonna take a while to find!!

When you say you checked the ignition switch wiring, did you check the switch itself with a meter?

Yes the feed through the ignition is all ok and been checked with meter, we have discovered that if we remove one of the plugs (yellow) on the BSI everything works properly, could the power be going in the wrong way???
Totally dumbfounded, we are reduced to head scratching at the moment!!!

Perhaps a fault elsewhere is triggering some sort of safety mode Dammit, the yellow connector is 26 way, there's no way I can follow all that to narrow it down

Yep, similar conclusion here, we have been busy poking and hoping, but to no avail, strong coffee, bed and then we shall try again tomorrow, maybe we'll get some inspiration to solve the mystery, if not back to the poking and hoping!

Probably not much help but there's always the chance it'll give you a "hold on a sec" moment.

hi, was this problem ever solved, because I have the exact same problem on my 51 plate 406 2.2 hdi gtx estate, also no fuel gauge not sure if this is related or just another problem. could someone give us a clue please, playing diesel roulette is not all its cracked up to be.
