remote fob prob -anyone know enough?

i have a remote fob which works on my x reg 406 hdi (90),.
i got another fob from the same model year etc & tried to pair it to my car using those guides etc but no luck.
think someone told me only pug can do this cos o security concerns etc
anyone know how i can get this other fob programmed to my car so i have a spare? cheers

I think someone said some locksmiths can do it, other than that you'll need (someone with) PP2k or the dealer.

Don't even count on PP2000 working You need the exact same circuit board (there are 3 from Motorola and at least another with a Phillips chip on it) and even when I got a matching one the car still wouldn't respond to anything but the original. Gave up in the end, will be getting a cheap keyless entry kit to allow the wife to zap it open.
