engine light on dash

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

engine light on dash

Post by thunder »

Howdy,

I have an engine light that won't go off on the dash of my 406 hdi estate. The car is driving perfect and i have checked the oil level again this is fine. Any idea what is causing this and is it serious.

regards,

Hi there and welcome to the board.

The engine management light showing on an otherwise well-behaved car really warrants a quick diagnostics session to ensure it's not a potentially serious condition developing.

Which HDi engine is it? The 2.0 HDi 8v (90 HP), the 2.0 HDi 8v (110 HP), or the 2.2 HDi 16v (136 HP) model? The HDi90 doesn't have an intercooler, the HDi110 does, and the 2.2 HDi makes it easy by saying "16v" on the engine cover.
