I recently purchased a 2001 406 LX.
When I come to collect the car I found that the drivers door lock did not work (it just turned freely).
I also realalised that the remote did not work. I informed the salesman and he said bring it back and it will be repaired FOC.
Took car back. Two new door locks were fitted and a new remote key was supplied.
The new key would not start the car. The display read immobaliser fault.
The remote also would not unlock the doors.
Luckily I still had my original key so I was able to unlock the car manually and start it.
I then spoke to the garage. They informed me that I would have to take the car into Peugeot to have the new key reprogrammed. I had a look at my owners hand book and there was a procedure to reprogram the key but it did not work for me. It mentioned a security card that should be with the car. I do not have one. My question is do I need to go to Peugeot to reprogram my keys or is there a DIY solution.
Thanks in advance for any possible help you can give me.
