Electric windows still working after removing key

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Post by adam03031980 »

Wondered if this was a standard feature in the car, i pulled up today to wait for a work colleague turned off the ignition and removed the key but both passenger and driver front windows still worked BUT also the interior light doesnt work without the key in the ignition anyone had the same experience or know if and what the fault could be if any, veh is a 2002 2.0 hdi

I think they're meant to work for a while after turning off - on mine you can hear the relay drop out about 60s after you turn it off
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

It's not a fault my 206 does this then stops if you open and close the door or after a time limit

Maybe it's a change they made to the BSI when they threw the COM2000 in - it's not the case on my '99 and '00 D9s.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
