Stereo Display staying on??

Hi all,

I'm new to this site. Just bought a couple of days ago a 2000 406 GTX Estate. Lovely car, but this morning on way to work the stereo would not turn on. The display is lit up where the time and mpg and stereo is displayed and its still on now with the keys removed and car locked.

Also a side airbag light has come on

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated

The stereo thing has happened to me too. Was pretty annoying for a couple of months, the stereo would just stay on or off when I shut the car down about 1/6 of the times, only the volume control worked. Fortunately it never drained my battery, I just left it in volume zero.

After a couple of months the problem disappeared and never happened again since this summer.

Ok thanks for the reply. Hopefully mine is the same. I'm going to get someone to look at it. It's only been since I put some CDs in the multi changer.....guess it didn't like my choice of music.

Now that you tell me it happened to me too after I put the multichanger in too!!!
It hadn't been used by the previous owner, so it may be some cotact that after some use fixes itself. Try spraying some WD40, I say.

Got another one, the display is obviously showing mpg.....but never shows a figure. How do you remedy this or should I just leave it? It obviously doesn't bother me too much just be nice if it worked

Check for water/moisture ingress in the conector that goes into the cd changer,
they have apermant live, so if any ingress it can short & feed back to the Mfd
