air con still not working,advice please.2.0hdi

hi folks im still having trouble getting my air con to workon my 110 hdi y reg.my heater works fine and so do all the vents but it only blows hot even when i turn it down to the lowest setting (14).ive cleaned up the 3 relays that are next to the cooling fan they were quite bad.im not too sure if my compressor has had it or not but i get no clicking noise when i put the air con on.ive just put a direct feed to the compressor and the compressor clicked but the temp was still hot inside the car also is the cooling fan meant to come on if the aircon is working cause my fan did not.the air con has not been working for a couple of years now but i want it working now as i have spent a lot of money on this car.i have not changed the gas since i have had the car could it be that?ive took the two black caps off the refill point and just peirced them and the seemed to be quite a bit of gas wanting to escape.any help would helpful as im starting to think im never going to get it to work again,i wont take it to peugeot cause they will want a bulging wallet to fix it which i aint got. thanks steve.

No real answers I'm afraid, but I have a few thoughts.

In your other thread Loz was suggesting the reduction motor, he showed the one on the recirc. flap but there's a similar one on the mixer (hot water always flows thought the heater matrix but air is either directed through it or around it by a mixer flap controlled but this motor). I don't think it's this because your compressor isn't engaging. Unless it's two faults...

What if the air con ecu doesn't know what the air temperature is? I'm pretty sure the air con won't engage under a certain temperature, so if it "thinks" it's minus something silly outside it'll wind the heat up and cut off the air conditioning.

Looks like the ecu takes readings from 3 sensors - the outside temp sensor in the door mirror, the sunshine sensor on the dash and the inside temperature sensor in the overhead console. I'm not sure how you'd know if one of these is defunct (apart from the outside one, that'll be reading something silly on your mfd).

Not much help I know Btw you don't take it to Pug, you take it to an air con specialist

i think without a set of pressure gauges and diagnostic equipment you're going to struggle,is there not an auto A/C specialist near you that can give it the once over? It'll be cheaper than the stealers and he'll probably know more than them about A/C.Although you have a bit if gas when you depress the valve it might not be enough to activate the pressure sensor on the system and although you have shorted the compressor out without the correct amount of gas it still won't do anything.Not much help i know but just clutching at straws.

thanks for your replys guys it is nice to know that there are people out there like you who are willing to help.
ive just spoke to an old buddy who used to re-gas air con systems and he is going to put a pressure guage on it next week,he said over the phone that i need between 5-8 bar for the system to work?so fingers crossed i hope its that.maybe im being too fussy with the air con because ive lived without it for 2 years!,ive just changed the dmf and clutch and changed all the filters so the air con is the only thing on the car thats not working.i just love the car and i want to get another 50,000 out of it if i can its done 155,000 but goes well (2.0 hdi 110 executive estate) i will put a post on here if he can find the problem,thanks again.steve.

Just as a note,your mate will have to have auto A/C adaptors to go from the standard commercial gauges he probably has to the car system.
