2.0 hdi dash problems

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

2.0 hdi dash problems

Post by midsmike »

hi my dads mate has got a T reg D9 2.0 HDI 110, the problem is none of the clocks work and all of the lights are on the dash even the background lights. They stay on when he takes the key out and locks the car and there is a beeping noise from the stereo and it gets louder when he turns it up. Does anyone know what the problem could be.. Any help much appreciated

Try a BSI reset
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Roll up left trouser leg...

BBA reman: http://www.bba-reman.com/content.aspx?c ... ot_process (think it's in the KB but what the hey)

There's also this shunt fuse mentioned here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=17080&p=168176&hili ... se#p168176 but I'm not sure if it's right for the car, I know I read about it on BBA but their search doesn't want to play today :frown:

Daft question:

as it got a cd changer in the boot,
if so unplug it and check for water ingress ,
a old v reg d9 ihad played havoc because of the cd changer having water in it, worth alook if it has one,

or check the wiring in drivers foot well, connectors, there was a thread on this on the forum somewhere, carnt see to find it tho
