Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Ignore the colours and go by the numbers you'll find printed on the wires
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

use some kind of tester to double check what's what. A bulb holder with 2 bits of wire (and a bulb  ) would do

Haynes are notoriously vague in the old wiring diagrams (as well as everything else...) Pug don't *do* colour codes on the wires, only on the connectors, so you're best off either using the numbers as mjb suggests or using a tester to identify the right wires as trem says.

Just had a look on the wiring diagrams (now I gt it working again  )
R/H (6 way white)
M26B - earth
2343 - indicator
220E - reversing light control
2100 - right rear brake light control
VH34A - sidelight

L/H:
M26A - earth
2333 - indicator
220E/220 - reversing light control
201A - fog lamp
2101A - brake light
VH35B - sidelight

It doesn't actually say for most of them, I've been a-following wires again :frown:

Thanks everyone, had a write down of wire colours/position, this is what I have, (stood at back of car looking forward)
6 pin plug LEFT side (from outside towards tow bar)
Pink cable
Purple Cable
Brown Cable
Yellow with Green Trace Cable (assume this is Earth)
Spare
Yellow cable plus Grey cable.
There is also a 2 pin socket into this light unit.

6 pin plug RIGHT side (from outside towards tow bar)
Yellow cable
White Cable
Pink Cable
Yellow Cable with Green Trace (assume this is earth)
Red Cable
Grey Cable

All plain cables with NO identification number or tags etc.
Also tried to follow pin numbers ie, 1to 6 from Haynes layouts but no logic found.

Many thanks.
