Key Fob (another question)

Post by VespaSkin »

Got a fob from scrappy (double plip) what I was planning was (my car only came with the non plip one) - take blade and transponder out of the scrappy fob and use as a dangly addition to my orig key.. and idea if this is viable or will I spend 10 hours p1ssing about like I did last time to no avail? and if it is a goer, what's the best way to sync scrappy fob to my motor?

Thanx you guru's

If I understand correctly, you can't just resync a new key to your car. You'll need diagnostic equipment (pp2000) to do the reprogramming. I haven't successfully done it yet myself, although I plan to very shortly all being well. Just want to get my ECU fixed first but happy to let you know if I do manage to do it?

Cheers for answer, I'm keeping the orig key and transponder that came with the car so don't need to code new key, what I was on about was taking the transponder out of the donor plip key and binning, getting rid of the doner blade and using it like you would an aftermarket remote fob - so have on my keyring; non plip key that came with the car, donor plip with no transponder and blade (only transponder it will read will be orig) and try and set up the central locking to read the signal from donor plip fob to lock the car, if you know what I mean?

I thought the main problem with new keys was the transponder as, for example, if you went to scrappy you would need, donor; key/s, corresponding transponder reciever (on steering?), ECU, locks etc... I was hoping that by keeping orig key I could 'fool' the central locking into thinking it has just lost sync 'cos it was reading that the orig transponder was present...

Sort of made sense to me, there again, I am a bit dim...

I think I understand what you're saying: You're going to keep the non-plip, original key with the transponder in to start the car in the ignition, and use just the key body (with no blade or transponder) to blip the car's remote central locking?

In which case you will need to reprogramme the key fob. The transponder is only for the immobiliser, and the remote is a separate system.

I would take the blade and transponder out of your non-plip key, and put them into your new remote key, and reprogamme the remote part of the key to the car with Peugeot Planet. Then you'll have a working key with blade, transponder and plip.

I'm not sure about the d8, I can check on Autodata when I get home but my guess would be it'll say 'programme key using diagnostic equipment'. Perhaps speak to someone nicely with PP2000.

RE SYNC:

1. Turn the Ignition switch ON.

2. Press the large Plip key button (Primary Plip)

3. Within 10 seconds press the large Plip key button (Secondary Plip)

4. If there is one remote, press the Primary plip button twice.

5. Turn ignition OFF.

6. Test Plip’s for correct operation.

Autodata agrees with Lozz for a D8, so you should be fine with these instructions. Yes press the large plip button twice then switch ignition off if you only have one key.
