Cigarette Lighter

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Cigarette Lighter

Post by pushcaddy »

Don't know if I am allowed to guys but will ask anyway and risk the wrath of you moderators

My missus has a 2000 (W) 206, trying to change the cigarette lighter unit (complete), got the old one out and got universal replacement from ebay- It has two male spade connectors on base and two wires from the bulb unit one red and one black! The old one was connected via a connector into which go three wires one green/yellow, one pink, one grey!

Looking for a heads up on how to wire this in, "safety first always battery terminal is disconnected".

Apologies if I'm out of order posting this on my beloved 406oc site but don't know anybody on 206 :(

Thank you guys.............

hi you might be best using a Multimeter for this,
idont know the colour codes off hand,

the outer pin shouid be negative,
the middle point where the cig lighter coil touches shouid be live point,
if you compare the 2 against each other you shouid be able to work it out,

Thanks for the quick reply Lozz,

I'm pretty sure the car connector wires are 1.green/yellow-earth, 2.pink-live and 3.grey-neutral. Just confused re the car having the 3 wires and the replacement having only two spade connections plus the red wire and the black wire coming from the attached bulb!

Cheers.
