Switching A/C off

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Switching A/C off

Post by helston90 »

I have my heating/ fans set up the same way most of the year round 20.5 C, fans off, incoming air directed at the windscreen with a/c off. (I don't know why I like it like that I just do and it works for me)

However every time I start up the A/C comes on automatically, is there a way of stopping it doing this? Obviously I run it occasionally to stop it ceasing up but it just teases me switching itself on at the start of every trip and me hitting the a/c button to turn it off- you'd have thought it would get the hint to be honest!

Thanks.

Idont think its possible to turn the auto aircon off,
ive tried with a few d9s and they all do it -too me it seems daft theres no way to turn the auto function off so it dont come on when it feels like it,
ijust got used to just turning it off on the d9s ihad, the 1st d9 i had the aircon was removed it still called for it, it was a nuisance

We have this debate every so often. The short answer is no. And opinion is split two ways:

1. Leave it on fill auto and it turns itself on and off as it pleases, which is kind of the idea of climate control

2. Your method of controling it manually which is also fine, if thats what you like to do.

As a note, having owned 3 406's, two of which had a/c, I couldn't get it to make any noticable difference to the mpg with it turned on or off. But try it yourself. It would be interesting to see if thats true on a 90, as both of mine have been 110s.
