I know you cannot reprogramme a secondhand keyfob but as you can buy the immobiliser chip and fob casing and blade via ebay reletively cheaply,if i bought a secondhand key just for the p.c.b. would it work with any immobiliser chip(when programmed) or are they matched together,i'm trying to find a cheaper option than paying a main dealer for a spare key.

My car is a 2000 HDi 406. I recently brought a new key and had it programmed by a Peugeot dealer. They said that the key could be programmed to any car as long as the chip and the P C board were the original pair. I think the key on my car was only used for a short time as others I have seen are different on later cars.
