MAIN AIRBAG LIGHT

The main airbag light came on a couple of days ago. Yesterday i disconnected battery left had a coffee then unplugged all the connectors under the passenger seat after 10mins then cleaned the contacts up using a very small needle file and used a bit of contact cleaner as well.

Usually this method works ok 99% of the time done it a couple of times over the last 6yrs and not failed before. I also did a continuity test onthe connecting wires and came up with nothing. The main airbag light was flashing now its just staying on all the time.The 406 is about to get sold to a friend in the next couple of days? Don't really want to fork out £60 to get it fixed if i can do it myself. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Have you checked the wires /connectors on the Seat belt pretensioners?

Didn't think of that. 406 has been sold to the neighbour as a runabout his volvo s40 blew up head gasket went. I will have a look and see if the wires/connector on seat belt pretensioners are to blame. I'm now driving a nissan micra. Lol Its not too bad though ideal for my job as a carer seems pretty good on fuel .
