Hi, wondering if anyone could help. Today when on lunch-break at work I decided to plug in my in-car charger to charge my phone. Then decided to remove said charger when car filled with smoke....!!
I manage to forcibly remove the cigarette lighter as even the lighter itself wouldn't click down fully and then discovered that parts have fallen off the lighter probably causing a bad connection.
What I need help with is when lighter was removed there was a lead with a yellow connector not plugged in to anything, and a black female connector pinned to the floor with nothing in it. I did assume they had come apart but these connectors do not go together...??
Does anyone know what these wires are for? I may as well sort it before replacing lighter as it was a sh*te to get out.
Cheers, Kelv.
P.S. Car is a 2004 2.2 Executive if this helps?
P.P.S. just bought a PP2000 and a bargain laptop so hopefully I can sort my car out and maybe other local members too ( Bournemouth )

Are these the two you're talking about (top right, black & yellow ones)? If so I believe they are for the autobox.

The yellow one, yes. I think that black/blue one is for the lighter. Under the handbrake 'flap' there is also an empty black oval shaped one. I was just wondering if the yellow one should be plugged into anything??? Can't see where though.
The car used to be a taxi, so there are lots of random wires around the car....

A few years of pottering on Pugs has revealed many of these unused plugs at various points over the car. It's because they use common looms regardless of which model, trim level or engine it's got. If you have a look over the engine, you'll find quite a few unused ones in there.
