i have one with a code u need to type in to start the car
lots of little wires feeding the numeric key pad which hyave a tendency to break...
so someone has suggested i start the car then when engine running disconnect the numeric keypad not allowing immobiliser to set
what do u think
will this work

I've heard it works and my old p reg the last owner done that to it and ran fine

I had exactly the same issue with my P reg saloon, start the engine and then unplug the keypad and it will never be needed again. I've had the battery off a few times as well with no issues.
