Front windscreen wipers stop after a minute (D9)

Can anyone help, we have just aquired a 406 2.0L (D9) from the yr 2000 and we have a problem with front windscreen wipers. They need to be activated by the stalk and then they only work for about a minute before stopping halfway up the screen.You then have to activate the stalk again to make them work, which is a nightmare in the pooring rain.

Thought it may be the relay but this doesn't seem to exist according to manual and searching with parts companies. Please help.

Hi .... I'm having the same problem but with the rear wiper too . It seems the
relays are integrated within the bsi and one possible cure could be a bsi reset ,
though this has not worked on mine , possible connection to a diagnostic tool
may help . Also someone on here with same problem with rear wiper found it
to be the contacts within the wiper motor dont know if this could be the case
with the front wiper but i shall be looking at both .

My 406 GTX is also suffering from this.

I haven't a clue where to start. Think diagnostics is a good option

Mine is still doing this but i have been told to look at the prongs in
the plug connectors from the indicator stalk all the way down to
the bsi ......

Hello, do you have a problem only with wiper ?
Does windows work when the car is not running ?

if you have all this problems try to put the fuse in places 26 and 27 on your fuse box.
it works on my peugeot 406 2.0 Hdi 2000.year

I have had this same problem twice with mine.
The first time it "fixed" itself after about a month.
The second time unplugging the BSI & cleaning the connections seems to have cured it.
