406 intermittant electrical faults

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

406 intermittant electrical faults

Post by ClassicRod26955 »

I have a 03 HDI S estate that has been a Friday night car with respect to the electrics. The latest problem is that the ABS and Airbag dash lights come on and off at irregular intervals, coupled with the fuel gauge showing the correct level of fuel-then empty with the low fuel warning light flashing.

My local auto spark detected a faulty ABS sensor at one wheel, but a new unit when fitted didnt cure it, neither did a new wheel bearing which is part of the ABS system. He can bring up an intermittant fault on the computer, and clear the fault, but then one of the three problems come up again after a few miles.

I am at my wits end with this car and only managed to get it through MOT as the light stayed out while the tester drove it, but it came on as I drove away with the certificate in my hand!

Someone HELP PLEASE!
