I had a 1995 saloon that had the useful feature that if i walked away and locked it then the windows automatically closed . I have now bought a black 2003 Coupe 2179cc Hdi SE and I was surprised to find it does not have the same feature. Does anybody know if it should? is it just faulty?
It has a different quirk which is that as you open the door it drops the window 20mm to clear the frame and raises it as you shut it. This works fine on the passenger door but clearly has not been working on the driver door wher the previous owner allowed the door pin to come loose so dropping the whole door instead of just the window.
Having fixed the hinge pin back in I am now trying to work out what makes the door detect it is being opened and drop the window 20mm? Am I looking for a faulty switch in the door rubber or in the door lock? Other wise the window works fine. It is a bit of a pain having to remeber to drop it 20mm before getting out!

Re: 406 coupe electric windows
It seems PSA, in their infinite wisdom, decided not to fit total closure on later cars, however there's a how-to on the coupé club for retro-fitting it.
The switch is in the door lock, it looks like it runs straight off the switch with no input from the ecu. Again, the coupé club is the place as there aren't too many coupés on here and I'm sure you've got a better chance asking over there.

The first step on quirks like this is the BSI reset and window relearning procedure.
As to remote total closure, my 52 plate coupe has it. The tell-tale is the window switches. If they are both auto then total closure works, if they are the later non-auto passenger version then there is no remote closure.

Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.
