2001 hdi won't start

hi all

my brother in law's moms 406 won't start

the battery went flat completely she tried to charge the battery but it would not charge up enough to start it

i went to have a look it and it is coming up with antitheft system defective

it was ok till the battery went flat but it just keeps coming up with the above about 15 seconds after the key is turned on

anyone got any ideas

Personally, I don't have a clue - I am sure one of the boys will answer soon.
If you tried to charge on the car may have disturbed the bsi, other than that I can't give you any help................

battery went flat when we had the snow and it was'nt used for about a week as she won't drive in snow

i assume it was on it's way out as she said in the cold weather it was turning over slower

she has put a new battery on it but it is still same message on the sreen

Try a bsi reset.. there is a guide somewhere on here,

Might not work but its worth the waste of 5 mins or so.
