bad luck

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

bad luck

Post by crackpotterpig »

Got this story to tell no laughing .............yesterday evening I went to put some fuel in the 406, it come to just over £10 I got back in the car and threw the change in the centre console cup holder as I did this a 5 pence slid down the centre console where the passenger air bag switch is and fell into the cig lighter.I then insinctivley put my finger in pushed it further down with a bit of a spark!
After trying unsuccessfully to disconnect the wires off the cig lighter I drove home.I needed to use the sat nav for a journey I was doing that evening so needed to get the coin out.Eventually got it out with 2 small screwdrivers and plugged the sat nav in-no power.
After struggling around in the dark and reading my owners manual to find the cig lighter fuse I replaced it which made me very late.
Moral of the story don't go misplacing your loose change or keep the cig lighter in its socket......I think it was all down to sods law!!

First of all i couldn't see what the problem was as at first glance into the lighter nothing seems amiss untill i looked with a torch and saw the queens head looking at me

I was reading something on Honest John that on some car coins can fall into the gear change and there's no way of getting them out again so you have to replace the whole lot. Hmm, that sounds mad, I'm going to have to see if I can find out what car it was.
