What did you buy from the shop, Magnets and Plutonium ????
That is a very sudden demise on an MFD screen..

Re: What the chuffs happened!
I'm wondering if i have strained the connection at the back or something when i changed it for my old MFD and back again for the pic i took on saturday although it was fine on Sunday,i'm going to take it back out again tomorrow and give the plug a wiggle about and see if that gets it back.

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: What the chuffs happened!
I was cursing this afternoon - moved my car a few yards to clean the windscreen, looked down and my display was a mass of missing vertical lines.
Amazingly enough, it's now fully recovered.
That's the second time mine's done this, which makes we think it's a driver rather than a display issue, (at least on mine).

Re: What the chuffs happened!
Back to the bit of research i done on the sat nav displays:
Possibly a bit of preventitive maintanence on still working sat nav screens is to drill more ventilation holes into the caisng so they can stay cool
I think when he says plumbum oxide he meant lead oxide, the lead must be corroding in these displays and causing all sorts of problems when they heat upNormally, the Z axis conductive adhesive dries over time, but in case of Peugeot 407 and 607 my experience is that replacing the ribbon and the adhesive does not help. The problem is caused by some sort of short caused by oxides that grow between the plumbum oxide pads / traces. This short overloads the driver IC and makes it malfunction if it heats up.
So I'd say the glass and the cable should both be replaced to get these units fixed properly...
