Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

307 Heater fan resistor problem

Post by gumby6371 »

In the great tradition of this 406 forum here's a query on a 307 :roll:

The blower motor stopped working on the other halfs 54 plate 307 and after a quick google I checked the resistor which is handily located inside the air re-circ pipe and only accesible if you start the car and hit the re-circ button (only the french!!!)
In short the wiring on pins 1&2 is toast and the connector is melted leaving me 2 options;
1) change the complete loom and fit a new resistor - about £80 on the bay calling in at the stealers later for a price
2) hack the end off the existing loom/ locate donor loom from a scrapper and attempt a heath robinson repair, could be tricky to open the re-circ vent on a non runner in a scrap yard :(

Either option is going to be a PITA due to the location and limited access so.....

Can anyone post the cable routing for the loom so I can see the easiest option before dismantling most of the cars interior please. It's a 1.6 HDI with AC but no climate control, I think the blower set up is the same for the petrol or diesel.

I have found a youtube vid for replacing the loom but it's not overly helpful for someone of my limited abilities.

Thanks in advance
