Tired Battery !!

Been having a few starting problems , now and then car just turns over and
makes no attempt to start , leave it a while and it starts . Called the RAC out
he agreed with me that it wasn't the in tank pump but it is flagging intermittent
fuel pressure fault most likely the fuel pressure sensor . Now will a tired battery
fool the sensor into thinking there is not enough pressure ? also iirc someone on here
mentioned cleaning the sensor what exactly do you clean ?
Apparently if pressure is not reached within 2 or 3 revolutions of engine it shuts off ,and
steve do could you check if this BOSCH : 0 281 002 283 is the right sensor please sweetheart

When my battery started crapping out I was getting ELECTRONIC IGNITION FAULT on the mfd whilst cranking

What you really need it to get a butchers at the live rail pressure with the engine running and watch it like a hawk, a health HP pump will push a steady 298 bar at idle, it this keeps dropping or changing it could signal a pressure problem or perhaps a duff sensor like you say. To be fair HP pumps don't fail on these cars, I've never heard of it anyway.

Cheers welly , i dont get anything on the MFD just the eml comes on but
once it has started normally a couple of times it goes off . Will try cleaning
the sensor first before replacing as they are silly money

I'll talk to Goran if you need to be certain but this is coming up 19207R, which is correct but superseded by 1920SZ ( = 0 281 002 797 probably )

With a knackered battery, I got that *sometimes*. A more reliable indicator would be the orange immobiliser (key half way in a box) icon at the bottom left of the instrument cluster

but it is flagging intermittent fuel pressure fault most likely the fuel pressure sensor

"is" or "was"? Unless they're cleared, intermittent faults can still be read even if they only happened once seven years ago...

If the battery isn't turning the starter (and thus HP pump) fast enough and/or running the tank pump quick enough, would that not cause fuel pressure to actually be low?

Hi mate, when my battery started to get tired I was getting all sorts of electrical gremlins pop up. Stereo came on full volume sometimes, electric mirrors would go there own way when starting car and starter was ever so slow.

Freshly charged battery sorted out all the above issues though.

Mine did all sorts of stupid stuff with a failing battery, but never failed to start until it finally couldn't turn it over.

Since changing the battery all the gremlins have gone, save its strange habit of occasionally re-enabling the auto wipers if the stalk's been left in that position on the previous journey.

Have the pressure regulator messages come back since I reset them, Lou?
