new pp2000 owner questions plz

hi all i just got a pp2000 today after i got it installed (not as easy as it looks) i tried it on my 406 it said "access to the vehicle communication card impossible validate or try again" after that it asked me for a DAM. i'm sure i tried it on ignition position 1 & 2....what's that all about plz ???????????? any help would be much apreciated

Worth checking the fuse for your diagnostic socket first.

The 'DAM' is the date of manufacture - given by digits 2-5 of the 8? digit code on the sticker on your A post which gives the tyre pressures, (mine begins 09614... so the DAM is 9614).

The fuse no. varies from car to car, but is always one of the 10A fuses in the engine fusebox, (Wouldn't take long to check them all).

If you get a communication fault BEFORE you try talking to the car, your problem is with the laptop, Lexia interface or the software installation.

Tbh my next moves are check the plugs under the carpet for dampness as I do have issues with a wet carpet in ther drivers footwell. Also get it to talk to my car 1st as to spend £££ on bits & its just water causing bother would be silly

DAM number carry on right on my door post is part of a 7 digit number 0901289. so is my dam 9012 ??? also my friend has a 53 coupe 2.2hdi & his is a 7 number also. when i'm putting my number in 9012 it's going to a page in French which I think its saying it can't connect

Back again lol. I've just been searching the net while I'm at work & found some1 who mentioned about when you go to the pick box there's 406, 406r, 406 coupe & 406r coupe. I picked just 406 have I been a plonker by just picking 406 ??? But I still can't get this dam DAM info for sure or am I using the right DAM code but picking the wrong 406 ???

Your pal's Coupe is quite a late one, so may have rolled over into 5 digits. Is he including the "U5" bit at the end, because this just means it was assembled at Pininfarina's plant in Italy, as all Coupes were.

If you're still having DAM problems, (see what I did there?!), get an a/c with Service Box, put your VIN in the box and in the 'characteristics' page, your build code is displayed at the top.

For a 51 plate, you should need 406R btw.

Basically I just picked 406 & for my friends picked 406 coupe not 406r. Which is where I'm starting to think I went wrong in the 1st place. My mates did have the u5 bit at the end I think. So if my sticker on the door post says 0901289 on the sticker is my DAM 9012. I had a quick look at that service box but never went too far

Yes I think you're right....9012 is what you want. Confirm on Service Box or pm me your VIN and I can look it up this end.

Did PP read your mate's Coupe ok when he picked "406 Coupe"? It shouldn't have done....should be "406 Coupe R" for his year of car.

Hi I had a bit more muck on when got in from work tonight. It wouldn't work at 1st as I had to install the cd to get the drivers for the lead to work. Eventually they did so it connected saying about interrogation but it carried on waffling in french. So so far you make sure your ign is on 2 all lights on & it should connect then you click peugoet planet2000 yes not diagtool or measurment waffle. Is there a way to set the blue screen to english as I don't do french ????

Hi, if you are having problems installing, then look on youtube as there are translations and how-to's on there. You also need all leads plugged in ( not into the car though ) during installation too.
You can convert to English again once installed.
Don't forget to click 406R, as that's when you put build code in - we've all done it....

It's over a year since I installed mine and it wasn't a painless process either.....
Sounds as though it's not in properly yet on yours if you're still having to faff around with install discs. As far as I remember, the language option was asked during the install so you shouldn't have to be looking at foreign lingo anywhere along the line.

It is a bit of a hair pulling experience, but worth it in the end! Good luck......

Tbh I'm thinking of wiping it from my comp & starting again. I was told to use daemon to mount it & start if off. So see how it goes lol
