Help with passenger front window, Please!!!!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Do you know if it has replaceable relays in it?

Or does it look like having to replace the bsi to cure a daft window problem, and would that mean having to program it to work with alarm/immobiliser ect?

The BSI sits just behind and above the fusebox by the drivers right knee.

There are no relays attached to it, as it is a sort of ecu/all in one brains to organise the gadgets.

I don't think this is the problem though - I would look at borrowing a known and definitely working window switch from a mate and try that first - its the cheapest option.. 8)

Or try the switch when slowly opening and closing the door, just to double check the harness.

A new BSI means new ecu too, and transponder, keys etc. All these things need to communicate to work so must have the same VIN as ECU.

That sounds relly bad.

I have now definately elimated both passenger and driver switches.
The motor itself works fine.
All the wiring is passing continuity testing,
all the fuses are intact.
The last thing I've found in the diagram is this for the bsi :(
Image

16 is part of the bsi,
and it shows a fuse at the top (no number or rating) so presumably not changeable
then the switch under that, controlled by a solenoid,
and the last circular diagram with the arrow ect described as 'electronic or solid state device, Which I was hoping would be a changeable relay. :(
Everything else in the rest of the diagram seems to check out ok, and this was kind of the last ditch attempt,
Also sort of makes sense with getting power at the window motor both directions from the passenger switch, and only power in up direction on the drivers switch. this is the only place where power to earth switching goes through both pass. and drivers switch.

What I'm thinking here is that maybe there's a bad connection somewhere, so that it looks ok to a multimeter but when you introduce the load of the window motor the resistance drops the voltage to zero...
The BSI only has 1 relay for both windows (it just supplies power) so I don't think this will be your problem.
