Got dodgy FM reception on the Clarion in my 2002 rapier estate. Alot of posts suggest replacing the aerial and aerial base.
The aerial is at the back of the roof on my car so no handy cortesy light hole in the headlining to allow access from underneath, so how do you remove a rear mounted aerial base ?

Re: Aerial base removal
I thought there was a rear courtesy light?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I had the same problem -- poor or no FM reception -- and it was the head unit itself. Got a replacement one in the end.

Yep, there is a courtesy light, above where the rear passengers sit, but the aerial is mounted/ located on the roof just infront of the rear tailgate

Re: Aerial base removal
RWB's saloon courtesy lights are in the rear pillars, one each side iirc, the estate has one above the centre of rear seats, a bit like the front one.
To get to the aerial base, you need to remove/prise the top half of the rubber seal off, the centre grey plastic section will probably fall off as its clips are rubbish. The 2 'C' pillar trims - the ones that cover the speaker - clip off too.
Gently lower the back of the headlining and you will see the aerial base nut. Its a bit of a stretch and you may crease the headlining if you are not careful.
There is just enough slack to pull the base clear of the roof and unclip it, the fiddly bugger that it is.
