Hello
Since I got my 406 October last year its always told me that the driver’s door is open and the lights stay on, I’ve changed the door lock mechanism, unplugged the passenger side to see which wire tells the bsi its open noticed that as soon as its unplugged it says the passenger door is close but this doesn’t happen with the driver’s door.
Anyone got any ideas hoping it’s not the bsi
It's a 2000 W reg

Re: Door Open all the time
Hi & welcome to the forum.
The door switch, (I think), is part of the hinge assembly.
Hopefully someone can clarify?

Re: Door Open all the time
Nah, it's in the lock.
Hi there, welcome
That's a right bleedin' annoying fault that is, I suspect your central locking hasn't worked either.
The wiring diagram says there are no connectors in between the switch and the BSI, I'm not sure if this is true though. The wire seems to be in the 26-way blue connector, wire number 8612. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that you can just pull the connector to check it as there's also a supply +ve on it, so it'll probably just disable the interior lights anyway. I guess what you need to do is extract that wire from the connector (or just clip the damn thing off, leaving enough to reconnect it again) so you can see if the fault is inside the BSI or somewhere on the wiring. All the switch does is put an earth on the wire, so it'd have the same effect if it was shorted to earth somewhere...
Just to check, has the car had any monkeying done with the wiring? After-market alarm, stereo, advance mosquito warning system, any crap like that? It would be my first thing to look at if I was looking for the fault ("this wire seems to be earthed somewhere, I'll use it.")

Re: Door Open all the time
Found the wire its earthed when the door is open and isn't when its closed so it looks like the bsi then
, nothing seems to have been bodged as far as i can tell apart from the wire i just cut and taking a switched live from the map light to power the auto mirror

Re: Door Open all the time
Have a look at the post for "Lights left on Warning". Might be worth having a look at the pins of the door actuators as was the case with mine.

Re: Door Open all the time
The OP+s already changed the door lock complete. Anyway, his fault is opposite to yours in that his BSI thinks the door is always open, rather than not having a clue what it's doing...
I wonder if it'd be worth having a word with BBA reman

Re: Door Open all the time
Have you checked for broken or chaffed wires/wiring in door loom?
(the wiring inbetween door and pillar coverd with rubber cover)
Might not be that but that's first place I hit with cars with electrical gremlins,.

Re: Door Open all the time
Been looking in to them also changing the eeprom but that seems a bit risky, my local scrap yard never seem to have any semi mux 90s in. Have to wait until ive done the head gasket and cam belt though.

Yeah i checked that, cant get the rubber bit back in properly, i also checked at the plug that goes into the bsi its earthed when the door is open and not when its closed so think wiring side of things is all fine
