I have read a few topics on here about windows not working properly, I have had the misfortune myself with a faulty switch (Drivers side 4 way), the problem usually occurs from dirt, age, wear and tear to the switch connections, it is not as difficult as you may think...
take out the offending switch set, strip it down at the bottom level, you should see about 9 plastic lock in slides that need loosening to access the area you need.
once striped down you can remove the rubber disc and beneath you will see 8 metal nipples, these are the connections that become dirty or worn, you can clean and add solder as necessary.
I will add more instruction and some pictures when I get some more time, but it is not a case (always) of having to replace the switches.

Re: Electric Window Faults
What Mr Chips does not say is that on the drivers door 4 way switch the ONLY switch using an exposed circuit board is the switch for the drivers own window, the other 3 use sealed micro switches and are not serviceable.
It just happens that i discovered what Mr Chips says 5 years ago and have been selling on ebay a 10 A4 Page mini manual detailing exactly how to dismantle etc with 6 pages of text and 4 pages of close up photo's. £4.99 delivered. Got me a lot of glowing feedbacks from people who had been told by Peugeot dealers that the switch unit was not repairable, there are no spares parts for it and a nice new one will cost you 150 squire. lol When i started listing it people were paying up to 75 quid for s/h switches as old as the one in their car, as more and more 406's hit the breakers yards prices have dropped to a third of that now so my nice little earner (paid for my first Pug) has almost petered out now.

Re: Electric Window Faults
I hope the following makes it all a little clearer...
And this costs nothing, knowledge shared free as it should be on this site.
You will need:
T20 torx.
Small flat screw drivers for prising.
You should be looking to clean the points with, white spirit, meths, white vinegar etc... I found a cotton bud to be the best, but whatever suits, good luck.
