Lexia questions.

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Lexia questions.

Post by jasper5 »

Sorry guys, another Lexia problem I'm struggling with, hopefully someone has the knowledge to help.

Car not starting....

Citroen C8 with a flat battery whilst away on holiday, done the global test, faults found in BSI relating to immobiliser...tried to clear faults but some faults remain, the main one being....
Immobiliser not characterised...I've tried to find out how to reset the system, including fitting a new BSI, but the fault remains.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks.

Not finding much on a search but I suspect "not characterised" means not specific - i.e. it could be anything, the system doesn't know :?

Something to do with the synch with the key maybe? Is there just the one?

Maybe it'd help to post up all the other faults :?

Thanks, Steve, the other faults are related to the usual stuff you get like indicator faults and display faults, radio etc.

The main thing I want to do is to switch off the immobiliser or reset it to off....it could be down to the keys, but I can't find the way in to re-synch the keys.
According to the owner there is a code, which he had, to reset the immobiliser, but I don't know where to look in Lexia to find how to input this code.

John, if it's the same as PP2K, to re-synch the keys, it goes like this.....

The required function is 'Replacement Parts', selected from the main menu, followed by, 'Transponder Key'
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

IIRC in PP2k somewhere (!) under parameter measurements you can see whether the BSI has read and accepted the key.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

I've not done this myself (but I did look up how to re-code the immobiliser the other day) so take what I have to say with a pinch of salt.

I believe you need to reset part of the BSI, which involves re-coding the BSI to the passive transceivers in the keys. You'll need ALL keys (as this clears any existing associations) as well as the code. I think the option's in the BSI's initialisation sub-menu. You put in the 4-digit code, enter the number of keys, then when prompted turn on/off the ignition with all the keys you've got.

That takes care of the immobiliser; then afterwards you may need to re-sync the remote central locking keyfobs again - IIRC it's turn on the ignition with the key and hold the 'open' button for some time

Luckily (?) it sounds like you're in a position where you can't make things much worse, so please let us know what you do to fix it as I'll be shitting bricks when I get a 2nd key for the missus' C5

:arrowu: :arrowu: :arrowu: This. I was going to mention it but forgot - will be a useful bit of troubleshooting information!

Thanks for the help guys, i really appreciate it.
My problem with Lexia is that I find it very confusing to navigate, PP2000 for Peugeot seems a lot easier to find the bits you need, the Citroen one tends to send me round in circles :cheesy:

I'll have to try to get back to it and see what happens.

Yeah, used it for the first time the other day and found it pretty horrible. Seems to insist on spending 5 minutes checking half the car for faults every time you want to look at something different  If I wasn't so familiar with the language use in PP2000, I'd have gone nuts
