unlocking BSI and reprogramming new or old keys

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

unlocking BSI and reprogramming new or old keys

Post by pugph »

I'm sorry to start a new topic but it seems the BSI has forgotten my 2 keys and [*]I don't mean transponder remote plip unlocking![*]
I have the original key code card supplied with the car which is used to unlock the BSI. PP2000 has a 'learning' function where new keys or existing keys can be reprogrammed . see programming new peugeot key using pp2000, Youtube
Now on my pp2000 ver 23.25 it doesn't exist. Does anyone have any experience with this, and if they do what version of pp2000 are they using?
regards

I've done it before - I'll post the PP software version number when I get a chance, (think it's 22 something).

One point to be aware of, the appearance of PP2k and functions available varies wildly according to which car you're connected to. It can be very confusing. Sometimes, you can find all the same functions, but you find them in different sub menus. Things 'migrate' from user programming to new car preparation and so on.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I'm having the same problem. The "learning"function was on my PP2000 when I first loaded it and it is now no longer there.
Doggy... Is there a chance that Peugeot has cottoned on and has wiped this facility if and when one reloads PP2000?

I'm sure I have 23.25 and have reprogrammed a key using the code.

I don't want to be facetious but have you searched through every menu? I find that you have to keep on looking and looking.. E.g., I'm sure that there are different options if you scan all ECUs then go into the BSI to if you go to individual ECUs then BSI.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Mine's running v.21.14
The required function is 'Replacement Parts', selected from the main menu, followed by, 'Transponder Key'
I'll post some screenshots, IF my laptop ever decides to connect to the external hard drive.

Thanks for that nudge Doggy. Can you tell me what this four figure access code means as it bears no resemblance to anything I have in the way of a key or transponder code.

It means the 4-character PIN code that should come on a card with the car.

(If you don't have yours, Google 'Peugeot VIN to PIN', (or PSA / Peugeot/Citroen etc). Someone will do it cheaply.

Report from Thailand. Sorry haven't responded to replies but I have been in a deep Glum Jy. My 406 ew10j4 rfr is still not going! In fact things went from bad to worse, with the loss of contact with engine ecu, gear box, double relay, permanent faults in BSI and fuel pump amongst others> New engine angle sensor, battery
spark plugs etc. unable to program the two keys. anyway the last 5 days 39 deg C. 97% humidity, pulled the wiring apart looking for positive leakage to ground and connectors to ecus and had some luck put it back together this morning, turned on ignition, heard the fuel pump priming, relays clicking all those nice sounds, ran pp2000 could see all ecus, ran diag for all, cleared all faults, programmed both keys but it didnt start, turned over rapidly but no start, so PP2000 says no faults, so the problem is some where else, coil pack? spark plugs all brand new? alternator? any ideas?
