dash faults

Was changing a the dash bulbs on my hdi 90 estate 1999 when I had a little bit of smoke come from the dash now if I turn the lights on by the stalk then off again all my dial lights stay on only the actual lights after switch off and pulling the keys the bsi resets and all goes off but turnt the ignition on after the lights are back without touching the stalk
