seat removal when electric not working?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

The ecu under the driver's seat looks after main power to the seat motors, memory function for the seat position and memory function for the mirrors.(just the glass...not the fold, if you have that)

Your seat ain't gonna move without one! :cheesy:

I have a spare one here, but it's for a Coupe which has the 5th motor, so probably not pin compatible to your car, so no point in sending it to you to try. I'd suggest visiting your scrappy to lift one out of a saloon to try.

Just remembered your location! Probably not that many scrap yards there....
I think you'll have to do a rewire job to get your seat to move properly.

Some months ago , I had a problem with my underseat ECU. Water had got in, and caused corrosion
and shorting.

There were a fair number on eBay, but all had By Now prices of upwards of £60 or £70 as I remember.
But not too many actually selling. I lurked around for a week or so, waiting for a lowish price start auction.
Sure enough, someone listed an ECU with a start price of £10, I was the only bidder, and won it.

Thanks mark for that info

So i just want to confirm that a coupe ecu under the seat will not work with a saloon ( pin arrangement)

My mirrors dont fold as well , if they are not controlled by the underseat ecu what controls them?

Mirror folding is manually controlled by turning the mirror adjustment joystick round to the dot at the rear of the switch surround.

That's if your mirrors are actually of the power folding variety!
Some Coupes I've come across, have the rotating switch fitted (to fold the mirrors) but don't have power folding mirrors fitted. Manual fold only.
That switch also looks after the glass movement, so I guess it was cheaper for Pug to use the same part rather than design a separate one for cars spec'd with manual mirrors.
I suppose this scenario could also have been duplicated on the Saloon / Estate production line.

If you look on E Bay or the like, any mirror that has a connector populated with 7 wires is a non power fold: 13 wires is a power fold.
