ultrasonic alarm deactivating

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

ultrasonic alarm deactivating

Post by bigknickers »

I want to permanently disable the things, the switch in the centre console can only temporarily do this. Can I cut the wires to the A pillar sensors or would this trigger the alarm n give me a world of grief?

I know you can disable the alarm system entirely with PP2000 but not sure about disabling just the ultrasonics.

I wouldn't just cut the cables though, I'm fairly certain that would not have the desired effect :cheesy:

You can disable the alarm completely by locking the door with the key.

I think with some models, double clicking the lock button on the remote disables deadlocks and alarm? Try locking your car with the windows down and then wave your hand inside the car to see if it works....

I think you have to wait a bit before doing the arm waving. Isn't there a 45 second delay before the interior protection is enabled?

You're supposed to be able to not arm the ultarsonics by some sequence of pressing the alarm button on the centre console before removing the ignition key, then locking noramlly with the remote. Did it once or twice with the previous car, then by forgetting to I realised the ultrasonics don't detect the dogs moving in the back, (not cavaliers anyway).

You can do that, but the OP was looking for a permanent solution. That way has to be done each and every time.

What about a really low tech approach in the absence of anything more technical....
Take the ultrasonic sensors apart and shove some blue-tac or plasticine in the business end...that should stop them sensing anything..... :D

Probably, but that will generate an immediate echo, which hopefully the near field blanking will reject....

Might be better to stick a plaster over them first - if it gives a permanent alarm, at least you can peel it off.
