I think the cable size stems from the power consumption of the newer caravan fridges vs the older type ones,i don't know if you've ever been on the forum "caravan talk" but there is some good threads on towbar wiring,it recommends if I remember rightly something about doubling up the earth pin on the 12S socket to prevent burning/melting of the connection which happened to mine last year.I was contemplating converting the car and caravan to the newer 13 pin single socket set up as there supposed to less troublesome.dirtydirtydiesel wrote:Thanks Guy's,

Oh & grasmere I know what you mean about the gauge of the red wire BUT it is trickle feeding the battery so it's a low current, I've just looked & my battery charger has smaller gauge leads. (yes I too am running a split charging relay)
