Blip key not working

I have just changed the comm 2000 unit on my recently acquired 53 406 estate.The battery was disconnected for the duration but now the battery is back on everything works except the blip key for the locking,the locking works fine off the key but not the blip,any ideas guys? It was working fine before.

Key in ignition - ignition on and immediately push the bigger lock button for 10 seconds - ignition off.

Worked on my 406 - this is also what it says in the handbook.

Read your post in a previous thread and tried that earlier with no success. I think the car is going to be sold with a non working blip key,bloody French electrics,everytime I've disconnected a battery on a 406 something won't work afterwards.

The 53 exec has been a star it's towed the caravan to and fro holidays,commuted to and fro Oxford-Derby every fortnight and is due to tow the caravan from Derby to Dartmoor in 2 weeks time then to Swanage in October.Not done mega mileage but 30K in 2 and a bit years with just an alternator and regular servicing to pay for.If it went bang tomorrow I've had my moneys worth.It does exactly what it says on the tin very well averaging 49mpg over the last 1k miles.

Brett, I did this with my old exec - disconnected the battery and lost remote c/l. It wouldn't resynch by following the procedure in the book.
In the end I had to get the 4-character PIN code and using PP2k, get the car to 're-learn' the keys. It's a 5-minute job, if you got the PIN code.

Being a demo +1 owner I have all the paperwork,both keys and code but as it's provisionally sold and being picked up on weds I am reluctant to connect to pp2000 and mess with stuff as knowing my luck it'll all go pear shaped.I think i'll play the dumb card and tell the new owner it's never work while I've had it.
