Electrical ignition fault

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Electrical ignition fault

Post by EzeEmmanuel »

I am in a difficult situation and need help. My Peugeot 406 shows electrical ignition fault and cannot start. I had this problem before and an auto electrician came from about 700 km to fix the car. He only touched something within two minutes and asked me to start the car and it started. I went to weld a leaking exhaust pipe port and the next morning the car could not start. I remember the welder welding the exhaust while my ignition was on. So the car shows electric ignition fault and can start. The auto electricians around could not fix the problem but the one far way wants to come back. He refused to tell me what he did before and there is no point asking him to come around as he wants to be milking me dry. I collected 25,000 naira the last time he came.

Please any one with idea should help out. I have change the key battery and nothing has happening. I have also cleaned the speed/crank angle sensor but it can start. Please I need help

hi

take battery lead off and leave off a while, and try it again.

( I remember the welder welding the exhaust while my ignition was on)

ecu might have damage.
Blame welder and demand he pay for any damage caused.

this is beyond removing battery, ECU or BSI for hours and replacing them. I have tried all that. The ECU is still intact. Am afraid if there is a sensor that is affected.

Some of the fuses under the bonnet were burnt. So the car has started but the temperature gauge is erratic. It goes from 90 to the red end and back to 90. Does any one have a clue. I have bled the cooling system but I did not see any change

Is yours a petrol?

There is an 'Idle control valve' ( ICV ) which can play up, but I'm not an expert....
