Ignition accessory position causes antipollution

Hi. For many days now my Peugeot 406 has been experiencing the dreaded "ANTIPOLLUTION MODE'' saga and its has been bad. The moment I start my it the ENGINE WARNING LIGHT comes on and the throttle gets cut off. In traffic is bad because the car does not roll to a stop it suddenly stops. The type of car is in my signature. I have already been to Peugeot which all they did was reset the light, but unknowingly I took the car on a business trip about 800Miles. The car cut out alot but not on the highway. In the 7 years I have owned this car this is the first time it has done this. The car is mechanically perfect. I don't know what to do.
