Electric seats

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Hi there. Umm, Not having the seats to look at I don't know how much of a job it would be. You might have to swap the wiring and motors over and definitly the switch as on the memory version the switches just signal the ecu, while on the manual they control the motors directly. The 406 memory switch even lacks an earth, which has to be added. I guess it would be quite a job to actually swap the motors over (cables, gears etc.) but they should be more-or-less the same thing, just with added position sensors.

This is what I did - viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17504&hilit=+orange#p172499 you might be able to get away with something similar...

Hi, I'm doing the same on my 406, putting the heated electric leather from my donor Executive into my GLX, with electric cloth.

I've done the relatively easy rear seats, but the fronts will have to wait until I have more time. As for the memory ECU, I don't see the need. It was handy when I used to get 40 winks in my lunch break, I could choose position 2 for sleeping and position 1 for driving.... 8) There is a bit of work putting the memory in, I think you need the electric memory mirrors too, so if its something you can live without - then just skip it...

As for the heated seats, there may already be wiring under the blank switches ( mine has.. :cheesy: ) which makes it easier.

Check out this video of Frank removing his interior - you can see him remove the seats, centre console and Glove box. Its from a 406 but there may be similar ' ninja ' torx that you can't see with the naked eye...

Wish I had memory. Annoys me having to wait for the seat to sloooooowly wind itself back after the wife has used it.

It's no quicker with memory though! Only difference is you don't have to keep the manual switches pressed while you're doing it.... 8)

I used to wake from my lunchtime slumber, open the drivers door, get out of the car and press Memory 1, and then lock the door and walk away while the seat goes back to the 'driving' position... :cheesy:

Actually, I think I miss it a bit..

Commendable. I'm awarding Kelvin 8 out of 10 for memory seat utilisation excellence.

(Memory 2 could have been preset to the food coma position, thus providing vital seconds of additional kip).
