I'm not sure about the D8, but a D9 heater control panel is held in by 4 torx.

2 are shared (the bottom 2 on MFD and top 2 on heater panel ) and the bottom 2 of the heater panel are behind the stereo fascia ( the bottom 2 silver bits in the picture... )
