Hi,
I have a 2003 406 HDi 90. I bought the car a few months ago.
I have a problem with the central locking. When i bought the car the guy said that the central locking works but the remote key doesn't. Failing to test it all on purchase when I got home I realised that the central locking doesn't work at all.
I changed the battery in the key and re-programmed the key. When I press the unlock key (on a two button key) the hazards flash twice, when I press the lock button nothing happens. I have checked the fuses and they are all fine (at least what I can see). When I try locking with the key in either the driver or passenger door the will lock but not the all the doors. Both the back doors will lock from the inside.
I have tried locking each door then try the central locking to see if one solenoid is broken but nothing so far.
What's best to try next? Replace all solenoids or is there one more elimination process I've missed?
I have tried looking at other threads but they don't seem to directly link to my problem
thanks in advance

Re: Central locking problem
Hi and welcome to the forum.
The fuse you're looking for is fuse 'A' on the outside of the BSI, (body systems interface), which lives behind / above the passenger compartment fusebox:

Certainly worth trying that first.

Re: Central locking problem
I just checked the unit and guess what... the fuse wasn't there. Luckily I had a few spare, tested it and it all works. I reprogrammed the key and it all works fine!
Thanks Doggy for pointing this out!
Any guess to why this fuse would have been pulled?

Maybe the previous owner needed it for something else?

Or maybe wanted to stop it doing something it shouldn't......steve_earwig wrote:Maybe the previous owner needed it for something else?
Might pay you to keep a careful eye on it for a while, in case it sometimes leaves a door or the boot unlocked. Hopefully it's fine, but better to check.
