Headlights coming on and intermittent fob

My headlight have been coming on by themselves since last winter. The fault dissapeared for months but seems to be back with the cold weather. Auto headlights are turned off. Also have an intermittant key fob that wont unlock the car if I have been away from the car for a while but will work fine if I have just drove the car then parked up. Drive belt is chirping and I am replacing this + tensioner next week, could the belt be causing the electrical problems? A scan with planet is showing no faults on the comm2000 unit.

I'd doubt it.

Unless its the belt is slipping..thus causing issues with Alt/charging?
Have you tested the Battery? (multi-meter)

Yeh batterys good. BSI reset doesn't make a difference either

If anything your dodgy lights are down to the comms unit.

My old comms would turn the headlights off, normally when it was pitch black on some random country lane and simply refuse to go back on again I could turn the autolights off with the stalk but they would go back on again when I indicated. When I disabled the autolights feature with PP2000 the problem went away, although I still had a flashing 'headlights on' light on the dashboard..???

I don't think its the belt either - the tell tale signs of this would be random messages on the radio display panel for faults that don't exist....

Is the comms unit connected to central locking in any way? As both faults are intermittent but they always show at the same time. If I go out to the car and the key wont work to unlock doors, I know the lights will malfunction too once I turn key to ignition on
Its a pain in the ars3 lol
I can only think of a problem with the bsi possibly

The headlights and central locking must be connected somehow possibly a so fault? Going to have a look in planet later to see if anything is activated that shouldn't be

I believe the receiver for the remote locking signal is inside the comms unit, so there may be some connection ( see what I did there....... )

Ahhh interesting I just done another scan and have found a fault on the comms unit at last!

Switch module at the steering wheel
Permanent fault. Lighting control not coherent

Guess I will be needing a new comms unit after all

They can be fixed for around £30 - worked for me...
