Hi, I have a question (don't we all).
I have just bought an x reg 406 to replace my r reg 406 what my associate ex friend decided to kill when I was abroad (when asked what colour the smoke coming from the bonnet was, she said,'..don't really know, I would've looked closer but didn't know how to pop the bonnet....) didn't even give her permission to borrow the damn thing... I asked if she saw a big red STOP light on the dash....she said, 'Maybe'...then she just left it by the road...for two months...seized engine....no coolant....I am bitter..unlike the coolant I will forcing her to drink over the coming weeks...sweet.. sweet.. coolant....
Anyhow, the X reg has no function at all from it's wiper stalk. I have swapped the R reg stalk into the car but still doesn't work. I have tested the stalk and the connections are being made within the unit.
However I then tested the power coming into the stalk from the car and it only read 9v on the central grey 'power in' wire with the engine running. ( It was 7.2v with the engine off and the battery could be in a better condition but is starting the engine)
I am aware of the bsi and that I may well have to send it for testing but because ALL the functions of the stalk are affected I think it may be something else like the power in.
So is the power in correct for the wiper stalk at 9v
Does this supply come from the BSI and that has failed
Can I hard wire a new 12v supply into the stalk
Anyone had all the stalk functions fail and it coincidentally be the BCI
Really hope you lot can help
Cheers
