Cruise control issue

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Cruise control issue

Post by Ady1985 »

Been a while, I've tinkered some more with this issue in my 2000 406 hdi estate so to run you through briefly I've retro fitted cruise control to my executive and here's my list:

Custom made master switch next to obd port......check
Stalk installed......check
Switches on pedals, all 3 present.....check
Enabled through pp2000......check
Ran wire and put pin in number 73 on ecu plug.......check
Adjusted switch to work just before brake light switch.....check
Multi meter checked for signals from stalk.....check

So anyone give me any idea why it still won't work?
How do I check clutch pedal switch to make sure that is correct?
Any info will be greatly appreciated

Have you monitored the activation of all the switches, (master, all 3 stalk functions, both brake pedal switches and their 'coherence' plus clutch pedal switch) via pp2000?

Does pp2000 correctly indicate the selected gear, (4th or 5th), when it should?

I imagine with your, (semi-mux), car you only need to enable cruise control in the engine ecu? - (I can't honestly remember, it definitely has to be enabled in the BSI in full-mux cars and I think two places in the newest examples).

A few people have enable the overspeed warning instead of cruise - none of the terms are really clear, it's easy to get it wrong.

Now now now, pp2000 can monitor the stalk and gear selections too? Now this is getting interesting.
I've deffo enabled cruise control through ecu so all good there, out with the laptop again tomorrow then haha

Trouble is the way in which pp2000 presents information varies from car to car and generally the newer the car, the more things you can monitor.

On a full-mux you'll find gear selection and clutch pedal in engine ecu\driving parameters, maybe the brake pedal switches too, can't honestly remember. All the cruise control stalk functions can be seen when monitoring the COM2000. Obviously your 2000 car will be different but hopefully you can find all or most of them.

Be prepared to look everywhere, not just where logic dictates they should be.

Can tell you that the stalk functions can be monitored by:

PP2000 > Test by function > Driver information/communication > Controls under the steering wheel (COM 2000)

Then go to "parameter measurements" and select the Cruise Control option.

It will show all the buttons as "INACTIVE", changing to "ACTIVE" when you press one.
