steering column electrics

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

First off hello and welcome!

I believe auto lights over rides the manual function, press and hold the button on the end of the stalk until you get the auto lights off message on the display.
A none working horn is usually due to dirty connectors under the airbag, you need to remove the airbag and give it a clean. look for the com2000 change how-to in the knowledge base. Lots of pics and straight forward enough to do just a little on the fiddly side.
Water in the boot is probably a badly fitting light cluster, take them both off and clean up both faces where light meets body work. Some members have used tiger seal and other such sealants but I found a clean and making sure they were bolted on tightly worked for me.
Airbag could be a few things but generally the under seat connectors are a safe bet, pull apart and clean or chop and solder the wires. Our own Farmerpug has a how-to on youtube, username peugeotcitreon2cv if memory serves.

Please remember to disconnect the battery and leave it for a good few minutes before messing with airbags!!!!

Good luck and hopefully they're all simple and quick fixes.

Many thanks to Gumby6371 for his great advice but ended up needing a new squib as the ribbon between steering wheel and the column but the connections under seats was also at fault next job intermittent heavy power steering lol
