Number plate bulb replacement on estate

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Ha ha...

I think you can get a small screwdriver to remove the clear bit, but they often break. I take the extra time to remove the rear grey panel on the tailgate to access the rear ( ) and squeeze the release clips this way them push them out, they can still probably break but you also get a nice slice or two across the knuckles from the sharp edges.....

If the worst comes to the worst, the whole light unit is only about £3 - £4 from Pug.

I managed to remove one of my number plate light units today, (following Kelv's advice and removing the interior trim first and squeezing the tags to get it out without breaking anything). :)
To my amazement, I also managed to prise the lamp unit open and replce the bulb without breaking that either. :cheesy:

This is the first time I managed this feat in 11 years of Pug/Cistern ownership.

Ah, but if you didn't slice your finger open, swear a bit then throw something across the drive leaving a spattering of blood - then you didn't do it properly.....

I normally break them putting them back in...

None of the above, but I did:
- leave the trim dangling from the edge against the rear window making it a struggle to access the (easier) n/s lamp....
- try then give up attempting to get the o/s lamp out, (ain't broke so not fixing it).....
- then have the trim fall off anyway, just as I was getting ready to put the fixings back in....
- realise how clever* I had been parking the car so I could stare into the unseasonal November sunshine throughout.

No blood was spilled, but I did crick my neck, break a thumbnail and whack my head on the tailgate too many times to count.
