Instrument Cluster Help

Hi There,

I have just purchased a 406 Executive Estate. I have just purchased a instrument cluster off eBay for £0.99 and went to collect it as it was only up the road. When I got it home I thaught it would just plug in. Unfortunatly it appears that my car is the older version (White & Black Plug) and the one I brought is a later single black plug LED type one. I was wondering if I can retrofit the later one into my car as I would like to purchase the white dial, chrome bezel one out of a later S or SE car (which should in theory have the same single black plug as the one I have just purchased). I plugged it into my car and although the instruments worked

Also the sidelight panel lights work when the sidelights are swithched on. As mentioned above, the odometer illumination doesn't work.

I don't know if the LEDs are kaput or if they are powered off the white connector.

Any help apprieciated and also diagrams between the two would help. I have a spare black plug off a scrap car so can splice this one in as it plugs into the connector on the cluster.

I was just wondering if anybody has previously done this mod and if it was successful.
