Fuel and temperature gauge help

Post by turbojet »

Hi there.

I have a problem sometimes with fuel gauge it bounce with the gas in the tank, gauge maybe broken?
Temperatur must be calibrated, needle fell off so now is not correct, how many Ohms must it be?
I've tried using a schema, +90 is 215ohm or 245ohm, but is not right on the gauge :(

Isn't this what it's meant to do? Or is it too sensitive, the level changes all the time when you move the car around? Or is it just all over the place? Check connections to the sender on the tank maybe.

I've no idea of the value but what if you get the car up to normal operating temperature (presuming the cooling system is ok) and stick the needle on pointing at 90? Mine points at the 9 of 90, the only time it pointed to the 0 I was loosing coolant.

My English is not to good, but thanks for your reply.

It is to sensitive sometimes, level changes all the time when I drive. I have checked connections from the sender til gauge
Okay the fan start on high at 110, so when it stops, I'll try to stick the needle on 90?

I forgot to say, it is a 1998 2,0 16V ST
