12v cigarette lighter power always on?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

12v cigarette lighter power always on?

Post by CrazyPeteUK »

Good afternoon fellow 406 club members!

I wonder if any of you can help me, I was just wondering if its possible to change the cigarette lighter power mode.
As far as I know my lighter socket is always on even when the ignition is off, is there anyway to change this to be off when ignition is turned off?

Any help with this would be fantastic!

P.s anything like photos or images would help too!

You can change it by moving the fuse, it's one of two fuses that can be plugged in alternate positions for permanent live / accessory live......

....have a search in the electrical section

Looks like it's fuse one (the other would be the radio). Be prepared to find your fuse panel was fitted upside-down

I'm afraid I can't find a convenient diagram that shows the positions clearly, it should be obvious but get back to us if it remains unclear.
